Arrest Alert: Arunachal Police Nab 3 Burglars, Strike Down Theft and Burglary in Itanagar
In a significant crackdown on criminal activity, the Naharlagun police in Arunachal Pradesh have arrested three individuals linked to multiple theft and burglary cases in Itanagar. The arrests are part of a concerted effort by the authorities to prioritize public safety and security, with Inspector K. Dev of the OC PS Naharlagun and SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo, leading the operation.
Among those arrested is 35-year-old Lokap Bagang, a resident of Chayangtajo, Seppa, East Kamang, who has been involved in a series of thefts at the TRIHMS hospital in Naharlagun. He would target patients in the early morning hours, stealing their valuables while they were still asleep. Bagang’s actions have been linked to multiple incidents at the medical facility.
Also arrested was 24-year-old Nikhil Barman, a resident of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, who has been accused of committing daytime burglaries in Naharlagun. He would broken into homes, intent on assaulting the occupants with lethal weapons. Police recovered a weapon from his possession during his arrest. Barman has a history of involvement in criminal activity, with previous cases of motor vehicle theft, burglary, and housebreaking in Naharlagun under his belt.
The third individual apprehended is 23-year-old Tayu Taku, a resident of Michawa, Seppa, East Kamang, who has been involved in multiple cases of motor vehicle theft, burglary, and housebreaking in Naharlagun. He would scout for unattended houses, break open doors, and commit theft during the night, earning him notoriety as a habitual offender.
Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo has cautioned the public to be vigilant when purchasing second-hand items, such as cars, bikes, mobile phones, televisions, gas cylinders, and local ornaments, as they may be stolen property. Receiving stolen goods is a punishable offense under the law. Gambo urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to the police, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in curbing criminal activity in the region.
The police have vowed to continue their efforts to keep the city safe from criminal elements, and an ongoing investigation into the matter promises to unearth more details about the extent of the illegal activities.
