Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to Lead High-Level Review of PMJVK’s Impact in Kerala
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is set to arrive in Kerala today for a one-day visit to attend the Regional Review Meeting and Training Workshop on the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) for the States and Union Territories of the Southern Region in Thiruvananthapuram. The Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs will engage with officials and stakeholders to discuss the progress and challenges faced by the region in implementing the scheme.
Launched by the Indian government, Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram is a centrally sponsored scheme that aims to develop community infrastructure and provide basic amenities to identified areas. The program seeks to bridge the gap between the haves and have-nots, ensuring that every citizen has access to basic facilities like healthcare, education, and sanitation.
During his visit, Rijiju is expected to review the implementation status of the scheme in the southern region, which includes Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The meeting will also witness discussions on the challenges faced by these regions, including funding issues, bureaucratic hurdles, and inadequate resources.
“This visit is crucial in understanding the ground reality and finding solutions to the problems faced by the states and union territories in implementing this vital scheme,” Rijiju said in an earlier statement. “I am looking forward to engaging with the stakeholders and exploring ways to accelerate the progress of PMJVK in the southern region.”
The minister’s visit assumes significance in the context of Kerala’s own efforts to develop its neglected areas, including the Revitalizing Infrastructure and Fixing and Operationalizing (RIFRA) program. The state government has identified several priority areas for development, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure, where PMJVK can provide support and expertise.
The meeting is expected to generate momentum for the PMJVK scheme, which has the potential to bring about a significant transformation in the lives of millions of people in the region. By engaging with the states and union territories, Rijiju’s visit aims to identify the bottlenecks and provide effective solutions to accelerate the progress of the scheme.
