Patna, March 6, 2025: A bomb explosion rocked Patna University on Wednesday, sending shockwaves of fear and chaos across the campus. The blast occurred outside the library of the economics department, near Darbhanga House, and is suspected to be a premeditated act aimed at establishing dominance among student groups before the Students’ Union elections scheduled for March 29.
According to Professor Laxmi Narayan Singh, who witnessed the explosion, the intense blast shattered the windshields and windowpanes of his SUV and the library, causing significant damage. “I was taking a class in the college when the loud explosion went off. When we reached the spot, we found the windowpanes of my SUV and library were shattered,” he said.
The explosion is believed to be linked to the upcoming students’ union elections, with the nomination filing process beginning on March 10 and the results to be declared on March 30. Patna University authorities have taken steps to ensure a fair and disciplined electoral process, including a ban on wall writing and strict police monitoring to avoid disorder and increased security on campus.
ASP Diksha and the police from Pirbahor police station have launched an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the blast and are analyzing the remains of explosive materials.
