Assam: Boat Capsizes in Gauripur; One Body Recovered, Search Ongoing for Another
Dhubri, Assam – In a tragic turn of events, a boat accident on the Gadadhar River in Dhubri’s Gauripur locality resulted in the loss of one life and another person still missing. The incident occurred on Sunday when Ullah Bosco and his son, Safinur Islam, were crossing the river from Matiabagar Majhipara Ghat to Xajuarkuti village.
Ullah’s lifeless body was recovered on Monday after relentless search efforts by local residents and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Meanwhile, the search is still underway for Safinur, who remains unaccounted for.
Assam Chief Minister has announced a relief aid of Rs 4 lakh for the deceased, providing some solace to the grieving family. The community and rescue teams continue their efforts, hoping to find Safinur.
The incident has cast a somber mood over Gauripur, underlining the need for enhanced safety measures in river crossings in Assam.
