Probiotic Innovation: Naga Entrepreneurs Launch ‘Ginger Nova’
Dimapur | July 28 – Naga entrepreneurs Moa and Tempi have ventured into the probiotic market with their new launch, ‘Ginger Nova.’ Produced under the brand NOVA by NOVA Traders and Manufacturers, this innovative drink is crafted from fermented ginger and other natural ingredients, emphasizing its organic and alcohol-free nature.
The idea for ‘Ginger Nova’ stemmed from Moa’s return to Nagaland after working in the corporate sector in Delhi. Despite initial reservations about entrepreneurship due to the challenges he witnessed among peers, Moa felt compelled to begin his own business journey. His stint with The Morung Express provided him valuable networking opportunities, which he leveraged to develop Leon Café and ultimately focus his efforts on creating ‘Ginger Nova.’
‘Ginger Nova’ distinguishes itself in the competitive beverage market by being a mildly carbonated, health-conscious drink. Incorporating 100% organic Naga ginger, it boasts digestive properties, supports the immune system, and is rich in antioxidants. Moa explained, “Our research showed a demand for carbonated drinks; thus, we designed ‘Ginger Nova’ to meet these preferences while preserving its health benefits.”
The duo’s focus on local ingredients is also pivotal. “By sourcing ginger locally, we support Naga farmers and promote sustainable practices,” Moa added. Currently popular in Dimapur, there are plans to extend the drink’s reach across Nagaland and beyond, further goals include diversifying their product line to target the wider nutrition market.
However, launching a business in Nagaland hasn’t been without its obstacles. Financial constraints and market saturation pose significant challenges. Despite these, Moa remains optimistic about their start-up’s potential. Tempi highlighted their decision to use regular sugar instead of sugar-free alternatives, stressing their commitment to consumer health.
Moa advised aspiring Naga entrepreneurs to start small, research extensively, and prioritize hands-on involvement. “Put God first above everything else and be committed to learning from every step,” he emphasized.
