Breaking News: CM Vigilance Triumphantly Arrests Controversial Dr. Mridupaban Nath in Guwahati Over Grave Offences
The Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell has arrested Dr. Mridupaban Nath, a former associate professor at Diphu Medical College, in Guwahati, following his apprehension in Rupnagar on Tuesday, February 18. Dr. Nath faces a series of serious allegations, including disproportionate asset accumulation and bigamy. His medical practice was officially banned on July 22, 2023, when the Assam Council of Medical Registration revoked his license. However, Nath continued practicing at Midland Hospital in Guwahati, disregarding the prohibition.
Adding to his legal woes, Dr. Nath’s first wife recently filed a case at Bhangagarh police station, accusing him of entering a second marriage without a legal divorce. Simultaneously, the CM Vigilance registered another case concerning his disproportionate assets, resulting in a raid on his residence where lakhs of cash were confiscated.
The arrest culminated after a rigorous month-long investigation, with authorities also seizing an Audi vehicle (AS25 F8931) linked to the case. Dr. Nath’s past legal troubles include an arrest connected to a case at Mangaldoi police station (232/2024), where revelations surfaced about his role as a shareholder in JSM Nursing Home in Mangaldoi. While the CM Vigilance sought clarity on his involvement, Nath took it upon himself to respond to inquiries intended for the nursing home’s administrative officer, who was abroad at the time, leading to the nursing home filing a case against him.
Bhangagarh police station has also registered three additional cases against Nath under numbers 37/17, 68/18, and 41/18. These involve accusations of forging his father-in-law’s signature, fraudulently collecting money with false job promises, and tampering with a post-mortem report.
Authorities suggest that further legal actions are imminent as investigations advance, underscoring the severity and complexity of the claims against Dr. Nath.
