Massive Crackdown: Manipur Police Dismantles Black Film Trade, Unveiling Over 400 Vehicles in Imphal East
Manipur Police have intensified their efforts to enforce vehicle regulations by targeting the use of illegal tinted films on cars. Over the past five days, law enforcement in the Imphal East district has removed tinted films from more than 400 vehicles. Additionally, police have confiscated numerous rolls of black film from car accessory shops. On their official social media handle, authorities have reiterated the prohibition of black films on vehicles and have urged car accessory vendors to surrender any remaining stock to their nearest police station. Car owners have been encouraged to voluntarily remove these films to avoid penalties. The police have warned that non-compliance will lead to strict legal consequences, referencing the Supreme Court’s ruling under CWP 265 of 2011 and the Motor Vehicle Act, Section 100(2).
Simultaneously, as part of their ongoing safety and security operations, police have been conducting extensive searches and patrols in vulnerable fringe and hill areas. During these operations, they unearthed a significant cache of weapons and explosives from a riverbank at Hiyanglam Natekhong Thongjin in the Kakching district. Among the items seized were two single-barrel guns, a modified sniper rifle with a scope, a country-made pistol, hand grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and various rounds of live and empty ammunition for different firearms. Additionally, anti-riot equipment and communication devices were recovered, including a drone remote controller of Chinese origin.
These intensified efforts underscore the Manipur Police’s dedication to maintaining public safety and complying with the law, signaling a strong message to offenders about the zero-tolerance stance against violations of vehicle laws and illicit activities.
