Triumphant Victory: ‘Mok Mu’ Captures Hearts and Best Short Film Award at Arunachal Film Festival 2025 – Exclusive Northeast News
The film “Mok Mu” has been awarded the Best Short Film at the 10th Arunachal Film Festival 2025, an accolade celebrated by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. Set against the mystical backdrop of 19th-century Northeast India, “Mok Mu” is a captivating exploration of loyalty, courage, and survival. Directed by Chau Anandra Namchoom and produced collaboratively by TBH and The Shop Around the Corner, with sponsorship from Chow Patan Khankyo, the film is a heartfelt homage to the legacy of Chaupha Plang Lu.
Deputy Chief Minister Mein congratulated the team on social media, expressing his admiration for the film’s masterful storytelling. He praised its ability to weave intricate themes against a historical setting and wished the creators continued success in their artistic endeavors.
The Arunachal Film Festival spanned three days and showcased the dynamic evolution of the region’s film industry. It highlighted the work of local filmmakers, underlining the technical prowess and unique narratives emerging from Arunachal Pradesh. The Short Film category was particularly engaging, with “Mok Mu” competing alongside other distinguished entries such as “Changes” and “When Will the Moon Bloom Again.”
State Information and Public Relations Minister Nyato Dukam, present at the event, underscored the forthcoming commissioning of the Film and Television Institute of Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative aims to provide critical resources and training opportunities for aspiring filmmakers, photographers, and technical professionals in the region.
In support of the burgeoning film industry, IPR Secretary Nyali Ete emphasized the department’s commitment through initiatives like the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) policy. Recently introduced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this policy is designed to bolster the creative capabilities of the state’s filmmakers, providing new opportunities for growth and development in the cinematic arts.
