Jairampur, 21 January: During a visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Changlang district on Monday, Agriculture and Allied Minister Gabriel D Wangsu underscored the critical need for integrated farming practices and climate-resilient agriculture to tackle the challenges posed by global warming.
In a series of comprehensive discussions with senior officials, including the head of KVK Jairampur and district officers from the horticulture, agriculture, fisheries development, and veterinary services departments, Wangsu reviewed the current agricultural operations. Officials highlighted achievements while candidly discussing challenges like funding constraints and workforce shortages.
Addressing these concerns, Minister Wangsu assured full support, promising to tackle these hurdles head-on. He highlighted Jairampur’s advantageous environmental conditions and land resources, noting they offer exceptional opportunities for farming development. In particular, Wangsu pointed out the economic potential of piggery to boost the region’s growth, emphasizing the need for better fodder cultivation.
The minister’s visit also included stops at the Horticulture Department’s Centre of Excellence and High-Tech Nursery, as well as a pig breeding farm in Jairampur, further showcasing the region’s capacity for advancing agricultural practices.
Wangsu’s engagements reflect a commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability in the face of ongoing climate challenges, promoting a future where Jairampur’s natural assets are fully leveraged for economic improvement.
