Unlocking Prosperity: Nagaland CM’s Powerful Vision for Development through Oil Exploration
During the Khaozaosie Hok-Ah Festival in Thonoknyu Town on January 21, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio emphasized the role of peace and unity in fostering development in the state, particularly in the context of oil exploration. Addressing the gathering as a special guest, Rio underlined the significance of festivals in promoting communal harmony and urged the people to use such events to enhance mutual respect and strengthen bonds. He stressed that peace should be the foundation for progress, enabling Nagaland’s growth.
Rio highlighted the protection of cultural practices through Article 371(A) and encouraged the youth to balance development with cultural preservation. He advocated for partnerships with international communities, forecasting benefits for Naga youth, and cited the Hornbill Festival’s success in showcasing Naga heritage as an example.
The festival, organized by the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) with government support, celebrated the cultural richness of the Khiamniungan tribe through traditional dances, folk songs, and handloom exhibitions. Notable attendees included the Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, C L John; Advisor for Geology & Mining, W Chingang Konyak; and Advisor for School Education, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome.
MLA Benei M Lamthiu praised Rio’s visionary role in cultural festivals while the Deputy Commissioner of Noklak acknowledged government efforts in cultural preservation. He noted the progress in Thonoknyu under the Aspirational Block Programme.
A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister by KTC representative L Ngon Khiamniungan, which called for administrative upgradations and the establishment of educational facilities. The festival, characterized by cultural vibrancy, underscored Nagaland’s commitment to preserving its heritage while pursuing developmental goals, thereby uniting the community in shared traditions and future aspirations.
