Outrage in Geetanagar: FIR Lodged Against Duo for Mercilessly Harassing Apartment Dwellers in Guwahati
An attempted murder case has sent ripples through Guwahati’s Aashi Katyon apartment complex. The incident unfolded early on January 21 when Dhayjya Jyoti Gogoi allegedly attacked resident Sachin Kumar Teotia with a cleaver as he cleaned his car. An FIR was promptly lodged at Geetanagar Police Station, accusing Gogoi and an accomplice, Sunita Hazarika, of persistent harassment and attempted eviction of residents.
Sakshi Rakhi, Teotia’s wife, revealed a troubling history of intimidation by the duo, which spans nearly ten months. Rakhi claims that Gogoi and Hazarika have been working to take control of all the flats in the building, frequently targeting residents they view as outsiders. Rakhi further accused Hazarika of filing false charges against a security guard and threatening their children.
In a troubling development, Rakhi stated that the CCTV cameras in the building have been deliberately damaged, with Gogoi and Hazarika holding the keys to the CCTV room, hindering the collection of evidence. This hostile atmosphere has left the community in fear.
The Geetanagar Police Station acknowledged previous complaints against the accused, describing the situation as a “familial issue” and confirming an ongoing investigation to determine the facts.
This case highlights the escalating tensions within the residential complex and raises questions about security and tenant rights in Guwahati’s urban spaces. As authorities work to resolve the situation, residents of Aashi Katyon apartment remain on edge, hoping for a timely and just resolution.
