Four alleged members of the Mustafa Kagga gang were killed in a police encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) in the Jhinjhana area of Shamli early Tuesday. The clash arose when the gang members, traveling in a car, reportedly opened fire upon encountering the STF. In the exchange, UP STF Inspector Sunil Kumar sustained gunshot injuries and is currently in critical condition after being transferred from Amrit Dhara Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
The deceased gang members include Arshad from Saharanpur, Manjeet, Satish, and an unidentified accomplice. According to an official statement from the UP Police, the gang was targeted during an operation led by a team of 11 STF officers under Inspector Kumar. Despite the gang’s initial aggression, the return fire from the police led to the injuries and subsequent deaths of the suspects. All four were declared dead upon arrival at Amrit Dhara Hospital.
Arshad was notably a wanted criminal with a history of involvement in multiple dacoity and murder cases across Western UP. He was specifically sought for a robbery case in Saharanpur’s Behat area, with a Rs 1 lakh reward on his capture, as announced by the Additional Director General of Police, Meerut Zone.
