Miraculous Rescue: Kidnapped Truck Drivers in Manipur Freed – An Emotional Triumph in Guwahati News
In a successful operation, two truck drivers from Assam’s Cachar district, who were kidnapped in Manipur, have been safely rescued. The drivers, Nasir Uddin and Rizul Haque, were found late Saturday night in a dense forest along the Assam-Manipur border. The men, employed by a construction company, had delivered a cement consignment to Imphal. On returning, they were abducted by an armed gang of five in Kanpundai, Tamenglong district, on January 6. Shortly thereafter, ransom demands were made to their respective families.
Cachar police, upon receiving this information, collaborated with law enforcement agencies in Manipur’s Tamenglong and Jiribam districts, as well as the 38 Assam Rifles, to initiate a coordinated rescue mission. Utilizing a joint search operation, the team exerted pressure on the kidnappers, ultimately securing the drivers’ release without harm.
After their release, the duo was brought to the Jirighat police station for medical evaluation and assistance before being reunited with their relieved families. During their 13-day ordeal, the drivers recounted being held by the gunmen but confirmed that they were not subjected to physical abuse.
The successful rescue highlights the effective cooperation between Assam and Manipur police forces along with the Assam Rifles, significantly relieving the distress and anxiety suffered by the families of the kidnapped men.
