Manipur Police Triumph: Bold Crackdown on Illicit Liquor Operations Ignites Hope in Churachandpur
Manipur Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illicit Liquor Operations in Churachandpur
In an ongoing effort to combat the smuggling and distribution of illicit liquor, the Manipur police have ramped up their operations in the Churachandpur district. Recently, law enforcement conducted targeted raids on multiple unauthorized liquor hubs, notably in areas such as Zoven, Victoria Mart, Hmar Veng, and Rengkai.
These strategic operations, fueled by precise intelligence, resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of illegal alcoholic beverages. The police seized 64 beer cans, 25 beer bottles, 24 apple and grape juice bottles, 12 soju bottles, along with an array of Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL)—including 3 quarter bottles, 20 full bottles, and 11 half bottles—accompanied by 175 liters of locally brewed Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor.
Although no individuals were apprehended during these recent raids, the confiscated liquor, valued in lakhs of rupees, was promptly destroyed in the presence of local media and community members. This public destruction underscores the district’s commitment to eradicating the illicit liquor trade.
This latest crackdown is part of a broader, sustained campaign against illegal alcohol production and distribution that has seen significant enforcement actions in Churachandpur. In November 2024, a series of coordinated raids led to the seizure of essential equipment for liquor production—as well as 1,500 liters of DIC liquor and 500 cans of beer—emphasizing the authorities’ continued vigilance in addressing this issue.
The Manipur police’s intensified operations demonstrate their unwavering resolve to dismantle the illegal liquor networks, fostering a safer and more lawful community environment.
