Transformative Breakthrough: Mizoram’s Uplifting Pact Empowers Farmers by Partnering with 7 Agencies for Broomstick Purchase
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced on Friday that the state government has formalized agreements with seven agencies to procure broomsticks from local farmers. This move is part of the administration’s efforts to support agricultural producers by purchasing four key crops: broomsticks, ginger, turmeric, and Mizo chili, as pledged by the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) when they assumed office last December.
In a significant development, the Chief Minister inaugurated the dispatch of brooms produced by the locally established King Industries, marking the beginning of their distribution to other states. During the event, Lalduhoma emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the agricultural community.
The signed agreements with the seven agencies signify a structured approach to broomstick acquisition, which is crucial for boosting the local economy and supporting farmers. In an effort to foster a competitive marketplace, Lalduhoma mentioned that the government would provide its facilities to the purchasing agencies while also encouraging other buyers to participate, promoting healthy competition.
Highlighting further commitments, Agriculture Minister PC Vanlalruata announced that ginger procurement will begin on February 20 through 675 farmer societies. This initiative complements the government’s broader strategy to secure the agricultural livelihood in Mizoram by ensuring reliable markets for essential crops.
These initiatives collectively aim to strengthen the agricultural sector, providing local farmers with increased stability and opportunities for economic growth. The Mizoram government’s proactive approach demonstrates its dedication to delivering on its electoral promises and supporting the regional agricultural community.
