Shillong: The North Eastern Hill University Teachers Association (NEHUTA) has issued a strong condemnation of Vice Chancellor Prof. PS Shukla, accusing him of abuse of power that has disrupted university operations. NEHUTA claims that Prof. Shukla’s interference, despite being advised to take leave, has imposed a dictatorial approach that defies university statutes.
The association has pointed to his continued attendance at official meetings as a breach of the University Act, asserting that he is not legally permitted to represent NEHU in this capacity. This unauthorized involvement is seen as an extension of his efforts to undermine statutory norms and exert control over the institution.
NEHUTA highlighted Prof. Shukla’s actions as particularly disturbing amid demands for his removal. They argue that the university is dealing with significant mismanagement, exacerbated by the placement of unqualified individuals in key roles. They warn that he will increasingly be held accountable as investigations into his conduct continue, with all alleged misdeeds under scrutiny.
