Shocking Arrest at Agartala Railway Station: Two Nabbed in Trafficking Narcotics Sting
In a joint operation to combat drug trafficking, Tripura’s Agartala GR Police Station and the Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended two individuals at the Agartala railway station in relation to a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case. The accused, identified as Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Nazmul, 20, and Shaheena Akhtar, 30, are alleged to have been involved in trafficking narcotics across state lines using long-distance trains.
During the course of the operation, authorities confiscated a significant sum of money, amounting to Rs 8.3 lakh, which is suspected to be proceeds from drug-related activities. Specifically, Rs 6.3 lakh was seized from Nazmul, while Rs 2 lakh was seized from Akhtar.
The arrested duo is set to be presented in court tomorrow, and the investigation is ongoing. Officials have intimated that further arrests could be imminent as they continue to unravel the network behind the drug trafficking operations.
The collaboration between the Agartala GR Police and RPF underscores the persistent efforts by law enforcement agencies to tackle the drug menace in the region.
