Exciting News: Flight Services from Agartala to Shillong & Aizawl Resuming Soon, Announces Biplab Deb!
Tripura Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced efforts to reinstate regional flights connecting Agartala with Shillong and Aizawl. As chair of the Airport Advisory Committee at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, Deb provided this update after a committee meeting. Regular reviews are conducted every six months to address airport issues, improve facilities, and strategize with stakeholders such as the Airport Director, police, CISF, and airline officials.
Deb highlighted the necessity for more flights between Agartala and Delhi, tackling the issue of high rents leading to vacant commercial stalls, and enhancing the airport’s lighting systems. Immediate concerns were resolved promptly, while other issues that required governmental input were forwarded to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
He stressed the importance of reviving past services, noting that flights connecting Agartala with Aizawl and Shillong, previously operational, were suspended. With essential infrastructure already available, efforts are ongoing to resume these services. Additionally, Deb aims to establish a direct Agartala-Delhi flight to accommodate travelers better.
This initiative underscores the focus on enhancing connectivity and passenger convenience in the region.
