Triumphant Security Forces Overcome Threat: Miscreants Neutralized and Bunkers Destroyed in Manipur
Security forces in Manipur, including the Army, BSF, CRPF, and local police, conducted a large-scale operation to dismantle illegal bunkers and restore order in the Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts. This action, which started on Saturday, followed gun attacks on Thamnapokpi and Sanasabi villages, injuring four people, including a policeman and a woman. Gunmen from the nearby Kangpokpi hills were responsible for these attacks, leading to an intense exchange of fire with security forces and local volunteers.
The operation successfully cleared all armed miscreants and resulted in the destruction of four illegal bunkers, while three others were seized by security forces. Additionally, in Uyok Ching, combined forces secured strategic positions to stabilize the area. Besides, since violence resurfaced recently, disrupting normalcy in the state, security teams have heightened vigilance, recovering various weapons and explosives, particularly in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts.
Further extending their efforts to combat criminal activities, the police apprehended two active members of the PREPAK organization in Imphal West, involved in extortion from local individuals, including elected officials. Identified as Leishangthem Napoleon Meitei and Thokchom Amujao Singh, these individuals were found with multiple demand letters, mobile phones, and a vehicle at the time of arrest.
As the situation remains tense in Manipur with sporadic violence incidents, security forces remain committed to ensuring safety and restoring peace across the region, especially with the New Year approaching. Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to aid in maintaining law and order.
