Jorhat, July 25: A disturbing incident has surfaced in the cultural bastion of Majuli, revealing a flesh trade operation at a lodge near a historic satra. Initial reports accuse Kamaleshwar Bora, the lodge owner, of orchestrating the illicit activities.
Located in proximity to a historical satra and a primary school, the lodge has come under scrutiny following public outcry. Acting on these complaints, the police conducted a raid and uncovered evidence substantiating the allegations. Despite the raid, Bora and several other individuals involved in the nefarious activities managed to flee the scene, alerted by a tip-off regarding the police’s approach.
In response to the long-standing grievances from the local community, the authorities have registered a case against Bora under The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1986. The investigation continues as police seek to apprehend the fugitives linked to this operation.
This incident highlights the pressing need for vigilant monitoring and strict enforcement of laws to preserve Majuli’s cultural integrity and safeguard its residents from such exploitative practices.
