Heroic Security Forces Triumph: Massive Arms Cache Recovered in Changlang | Guwahati News
Security forces including Assam Rifles, the Army’s Spear Corps, and the Arunachal Pradesh Police have successfully recovered a significant cache of arms in a joint operation near MS 27 along the Miao-Vijayanagar axis in Changlang district. This substantial haul, described as one of the largest in recent years in southern Arunachal Pradesh, included ten MQ 81 assault rifles of Chinese origin, found in concealed locations in the surrounding forest, as stated by Lt Col Amit Shukla, the defense PRO for Nagaland, Manipur, and Southern Arunachal.
Advanced technology, such as drones, tracker dogs, and metal detectors, was employed to ensure the operation’s precision and the safety of nearby tourists visiting Namdapha Reserve Forest. Preliminary investigations suggest that these weapons were buried by the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) before their surrender last year. Intelligence reports indicate attempts by insurgent groups, including NSCN (IM) and NSCN (KYA), aided by former ENNG members, to retrieve the cache over the past six months.
The operation underscores the ongoing commitment to maintain peace and security in the region by preventing insurgents from accessing illegal arms and is a significant achievement in counter-insurgency efforts.
