Transformative Celebration in Assam: Barpeta District’s Inspiring ‘Good Governance Week’ Kicks Off December 19
The District Administration of Barpeta will launch a week-long campaign from December 19 to 24, 2024, as part of the nationwide observance of “Sushasan Saptah – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” or Good Governance Week. This initiative is aimed at promoting effective governance practices and improving grievance redressal mechanisms through platforms such as CPGRAMS and Sewa Setu portals.
A preparatory meeting was held on December 16 at the DC Conference Hall in Barpeta, chaired by District Commissioner Rohan Kr. Jha, IAS. Key officials, including Circle Officers, Executive Officers of Municipal Boards, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), were tasked with ensuring effective service delivery and addressing as many grievances as possible during the special camps.
The activity schedule for the week is as follows: Starting December 19, events will be held at all Municipal Board Offices in Barpeta District. On December 20, activities will take place at Block Offices in Pakabetbari, Gobardhana, Chakchaka, Gomaphulbari, Chenga, and Rupshi. The campaign will extend to all Circle Offices and Block Offices within these regions on December 21. December 22 will see a return to all Municipal Board Offices, alongside events at the Block Office in Mandia. Activities on December 23 and 24 will be concentrated in the Block Offices of Sarukhetri and Barpeta, with the final day including all CDPO Offices.
The District Commissioner urged officials to focus on resolving long-standing grievances and encourage public participation through awareness initiatives. Officials were also instructed to document events comprehensively, including photographs and detailed reports on grievances resolved and participant numbers, which will then be submitted to the Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore portal by the District Administration’s NIC Unit.
The campaign will culminate with Good Governance Day on December 25, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance. Commissioner Jha has called for the active cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure the initiative’s success.
