Breaking: Sikkim Police Boldly Seizes 864 Drug Capsules in Dramatic Melli Checkpost Bust; One Arrested
In an intensified effort against drug trafficking, Sikkim Police apprehended a 30-year-old man, Roshan Gupta, at the Melli Checkpost while en route from Siliguri to Jorethang. Gupta, son of Krishna Kumar Gupta and a resident of Nayabazar in Soreng district, was traveling in a taxi when stopped by officials conducting a routine search.
During the inspection, law enforcement discovered 108 strips of Winspasmo Forte capsules, totaling 864 capsules. These capsules are commonly misused for recreational purposes and are classified as controlled substances under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA).
Authorities have filed a case against Gupta under the relevant sections of SADA at the Melli Police Station. Gupta has been detained for further questioning as the police investigate the origins and intended destination of the seized contraband.
