Internal Conflict Escalates Within BMS in Dharmanagar

Agartala, 10th December 2024: Turmoil has erupted in Dharmanagar, North Tripura, due to internal disputes within the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS). The conflict became public when former BMS district president, Subrata Rudra Pal, leveled serious accusations against key figures within the organization, including Asim Datta and oil tanker leaders Biresh and Anup. Along with his brother, Shankar Rudra Pal, they are alleged to exploit Shankar’s family issues for personal gain.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Rudra Pal claimed that these individuals schemed to misappropriate large sums of money from oil tankers and undermine the reputation of BMS leadership through unscrupulous phone calls. The situation is further compounded by an alleged plot to damage the reputation of Dharmanagar MLA, Biswa Bandhu Sen, signaling a deeper political intrigue.

Rudra Pal accused Datta and his associates of misleading workers through threats, aiming to sow discord within the BMS ranks. Highlighting the political shifts, he noted that once supporters of CPIM candidate Bijita Nath during the 2023 assembly elections, Biresh and Anup, seem to be destabilizing BMS from within.

The press event was attended by key figures, including Tripura e-Rickshaw Mazdoor Sangha President, Prabir Ghosh, and BMS workers. Among those present, Goura Nath recounted a threatening call from Asim Datta demanding Nath to travel to Agartala, under the threat of filing a complaint against MLA Sen to central leadership.

Political analysts warn that these revelations could dramatically affect North Tripura’s political landscape and labor movements. The internal strife within BMS raises significant concerns about the organization’s stability, unity, and future operations in the region, potentially altering local political dynamics.
