Parikh, who joined Nykaa in May 2015, has played a crucial role in expanding the company into the fashion sector. His resignation marks an important transition for Nykaa Fashion as it navigates the competitive landscape of e-commerce and fashion.
Founded in 2012 by former investment banker Falguni Nayar, Nykaa is a leading name in the beauty products industry with a notable market capitalization of ₹47,879 crore. Despite its strong hold on the beauty and personal care market, Nykaa Fashion, which contributes less than 10% to the company’s overall revenue, has yet to turn a profit. The fashion vertical’s challenges are clear as it remains a loss-making unit, though leadership remains focused on overcoming these obstacles.
Parikh’s journey in the e-commerce and technology sectors spans over 17 years, including positions at prominent firms like Genentech Inc., USA, and GE Healthcare Pte. Ltd. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Mumbai University, a master’s degree in Business Administration from INSEAD, and an MS degree from Stanford University.
Financially, Nykaa reported a consolidated net profit of ₹12.97 crore and a revenue of ₹1,874 crore for the September 2024 quarter, driven largely by its beauty segment. The fashion vertical, however, continues to lag in profitability, signaling a critical area of focus for Nykaa’s future leadership. As Parikh departs, the company faces the challenge of bolstering its fashion division to achieve the same level of success as its beauty offerings. His exit sets the stage for a strategic reshuffle aimed at revitalizing Nykaa Fashion’s financial health.
