Unveiling Delight: Digboi’s Spectacular 8-Day National Book Fair & Cultural Extravaganza
The National Book Fair kicked off on Sunday at the Muliabari playground in Digboi, part of the Margherita Co-District. Organized by the voluntary group Prayas alongside the All Assam Book Sellers and Publishers Association, the event has garnered significant interest for its dedication to literature, culture, and creativity.
Running for eight days, the fair hosts a diverse range of stalls from institutions throughout Assam. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant schedule that includes poetry recitations, competitions, cultural performances, award ceremonies, book launches, and interactive discussions. The event will continue until December 8.
The inauguration saw Assam Cabinet Minister Sanjay Kisan cutting the ribbon. The first day featured an art and drawing competition for school students and an engaging interactive session led by Rana Jyoti Neog, General Secretary of the Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association. The session was a collaborative exchange where journalists from Margherita and Digboi discussed their experiences and expressed their creativity through Bhaona dialogues, poetry, and songs. Renowned singer Rupam Kashyap enhanced the event with his musical performance.
This initiative highlights the region’s commitment to promoting a rich cultural and literary landscape.
