The Tripura government is gearing up to shine a spotlight on its tourism sector with an exciting ‘Tourism Promo Fest,’ featuring prominent celebrities and artists. After appointing ex-Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as the tourism brand ambassador, the state is set to host a series of vibrant events from December 3 to 14. Highlighting the fest is the much-awaited performance of celebrated singer Shreya Ghoshal in Agartala on December 14. Ghoshal, renowned as Spotify’s first Indian Equal Global Ambassador and a National Award winner for her memorable songs in the film “Devdas,” has been listed multiple times in Forbes’ top 100 Indian celebrities.

The festivities will kick off on December 3 at Narkel Kunja island on Dumboor Lake, inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha. Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury revealed that these events will unfold across four idyllic locations, celebrating the state’s rich cultural tapestry and diverse tribal heritage. Attendees can anticipate a tapestry of local traditions, art, lifestyle, and heritage from the state’s 19 tribes, punctuated by electrifying musical concerts and engaging competitions.

Neermahal Water Palace in Sepahijala district and the scenic Jampui Hills in North Tripura district are among the key venues for this cultural extravaganza. Approximately 40 top-notch tourist operators nationwide are invited to the fest, showcasing Tripura as a blossoming tourism destination. Last year, Tripura welcomed over 5.45 lakh visitors, including 75,000 international tourists. Riding on this success, the government has charted out ambitious projects to enhance its tourism infrastructure, including a substantial Rs 180 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank.

By blending entertainment with culture, the Tripura government aims to beckon tourists with this dynamic festival, adding fresh allure to the state’s tourism appeal. The event promises a captivating fusion of star performances and community traditions, marking a significant push in Tripura’s journey to becoming a key tourist hotspot.
