Urgent: Empower Bishalgarh’s Dedicated Science Teachers with Fair Grade Pay Revisions Now!
Science Teachers Demand End to Grade Pay Stagnation in Bishalgarh
Agartala, 24th November 2024: Science teachers in Bishalgarh are calling for action against grade pay stagnation, which they claim has affected them since 2017. At a press conference on Sunday, the Science Teachers Association, with key figures including state committee member Amit Roy and Bishalgarh unit leaders Haradhan Debnath and Uttam Debnath, voiced their grievances and sought urgent intervention from the government.
The teachers highlighted issues with the Assured Career Progression (ACP) Scheme introduced by the former Left Front government. This scheme, which initially aimed to ensure grade pay increments at intervals of four, 10, and 17 years, was reviewed in 2017 but has resulted in widespread discontent among teaching and non-teaching staff. The subsequent implementation of the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) Scheme has not resolved the issue, and grade pay increments have remained static.
The association is urging the current administration to reform the policy, emphasizing that such changes could enhance teacher morale and improve educational outcomes. They are also initiating a unique environmental project—planting banyan trees in all government schools across the state. This five-year initiative aims to provide shaded spaces for students during breaks, with science teachers committed to nurturing these trees.
In a positive note, the association expressed gratitude to the state government and Chief Minister for a recent 5% Dearness Allowance hike, even amidst the challenges posed by recent floods. The teachers applauded the government’s dedication to supporting educators despite financial constraints.
