Stunning Upset in Assam Bypoll Results: Congress’s Tanzil Hussain Faces Shocking Defeat in Samaguri
Today marks a pivotal moment for Assam as the bypoll results for five assembly constituencies—Behali, Bongaigaon, Dholai, Samaguri, and Sidli—are set to be revealed. Key contests in these constituencies include Samaguri, where Congress’ Tanzil Hussain faces off against BJP’s Diplu Ranjan Sarma; Behali, with former BJP leader-turned-Congress candidate Jayanta Borah challenging BJP’s Diganta Ghatowal; and Bongaigaon, featuring a direct competition between AGP’s Diptimayee Choudhury and Congress’ Brajenjit Singha. In Dholai, BJP’s Nihar Ranjan Das competes with Congress’ Dhrubajyoti Purkayastha, while Sidli sees Congress’ Sanjib Warie contending with UPPL’s Nirmal Kumar Brahma and BPF’s Suddho Kumar Basumatary.
These bypoll outcomes are crucial as they act as a litmus test for the Congress and the BJP-led alliance in gauging their strength and strategies ahead of more extensive political contests in the region.
