Outrage in Assam: Justice Demanded as Officials Face Shocking Misappropriation Allegations in PMAY-G Scheme
In a disturbing revelation, the Howrarpar and Motirchar Gram Panchayats of Dhubri district have been embroiled in a major fraud under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) housing scheme, with allegations pointing to the widespread misappropriation of funds. The scandal, marked by innovative deception using fake photographs, has denied legitimate recipients their much-needed housing assistance.
In Howrarpar Gram Panchayat, funds were allocated to individuals like Askar Ali (ID: AS1648725), Vano Bewa (ID: AS1801410), Fatema Bibi (ID: AS1176416), and Hafijur Rahman (ID: AS158405) despite no actual construction having been carried out. Simultaneously, in the Motirchar Gram Panchayat, Mozammel Hoque (ID: AS2672975) was discovered to have claimed funds despite owning a five-storey residence in Khalilpur, near Halghora.
The scandal has unveiled alarming lapses in the monitoring systems meant to oversee the program, with evidence suggesting complicity from officials tasked with supervising the scheme. As a result, numerous beneficiaries who genuinely require housing support have been left without assistance, as funds were reportedly siphoned off through deceptive practices.
Central to this alleged fraud is Sanjit Bharali, the Block Development Officer of Gauripur Development Block, accused of embezzling funds designated for constructing homes for impoverished community members. This has only further intensified the misuse of public welfare funds, deepening the concerns surrounding government initiatives meant to uplift the underprivileged.
The people of Dhubri are demanding a comprehensive investigation into these irregularities and calling for those responsible for the implementation of PMAY-G to be held accountable. This scandal has ignited widespread outrage, casting serious doubts on the integrity and effectiveness of government welfare programs in the region. The community’s fervent calls for justice underscore the urgent need for transparency and accountability within such schemes.
