The Naharkatia Chamber of Commerce in Dibrugarh, Assam, has leveled serious allegations against the Bir Lachit Sena (BLS), accusing them of extortion and disrupting business operations. According to the chamber, the BLS has been coercing businesses in Naharkatia into paying hefty sums of money, with demands ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000. Members of the chamber further alleged that some BLS representatives went as far as to insist that businesses be handed over to them if the demanded payments were not made.
