Urgent Alert: NSCN (IM) Warns of Renewed Conflict Amid India’s Indifference to Third-Party Mediation | Guwahati News
The NSCN (IM) has delivered a strong ultimatum to the Indian government, threatening to end their 27-year ceasefire if their demand for a separate flag and constitution is not met. The group insists on third-party mediation to break the deadlock in peace talks, which they claim have been stalled due to the Indian government’s violation of the 2015 Framework Agreement. This was emphasized in a statement from Th Muivah, the group’s general secretary, after inconclusive discussions in New Delhi. The agreement, signed in 2015 with the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was supposed to address these issues. Muivah accused the government of betraying the agreement’s essence and warned that if their proposal for mediation is rejected, NSCN (IM) will resume armed resistance to protect its unique history and sovereign identity. He further stated that in such a scenario, India would be held responsible for the ensuing violence. Muivah reiterated that for an honorable political agreement, India must officially recognize the Nagalim sovereign national flag and constitution as part of the accord. This development signals a potential shift in the longstanding peace process, with significant implications for security and stability in the region.
