Empowering Dreams: Sivankutty Promises Inclusive School Sports Meet for Every Child
Inclusive Sports Transform Kerala School Games
In a significant move towards inclusivity, the ongoing edition of the Kerala School Sports & Games has welcomed differently abled students into the mainstream sports events. General Education Minister V. Sivankutty emphasized this initiative’s impact, stating that it enables marginalized youngsters to actively participate in the games. During a press conference on Tuesday, the Minister highlighted that the inclusion of differently abled students has made this year’s event exceptional, fostering new talents and opportunities.
Mr. Sivankutty affirmed the commitment to ensuring no child is excluded from these events, underscoring the smooth execution across 17 venues, with well-organized food and accommodation arrangements. Despite challenges in organizing the event, coordinated efforts led to a successful outcome, accommodating 10,000 students, including 1,800 differently abled participants, on the first day. The Minister also addressed a previous oversight by announcing an invitation for Pranav Alathur, featured in the meet’s promotional video, to the valedictory function, rectifying his absence from the inaugural ceremony.
This initiative not only highlights a shift towards inclusiveness but also sets a precedent for integrating differently abled individuals in sports, promising a diverse and enriched talent pool for Kerala.
