Urgent Call for Unity: Assam CM Passionately Addresses Speculation of Internal Rift Among Party Members
In the lead-up to the Jharkhand Assembly elections, a significant shift has occurred within the BJP as longtime leader Satyanand Jha has filed his nomination as an independent candidate, expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s candidate selection process. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also BJP’s co-in-charge for the Jharkhand elections, addressed the issue, encouraging Jha to reconsider his decision for the party’s collective interest.
During a press briefing, CM Sarma explained the situation, stating, “Selecting a single candidate in this election was a daunting task, and regrettably, Jha ji was not chosen. His disappointment is understandable.” He underscored the importance of party unity, noting, “This election is vital, not only for the BJP but for Jharkhand’s future. We need every member united for a robust government.”
In an effort to reconcile, Sarma disclosed that the BJP has offered Jha a senior role, either at the state or central level, as an alternative to his independent candidacy. “Jha ji has been an invaluable member of the BJP, with a long history of dedicated service. I am here to personally urge him to withdraw his nomination and contribute to the party’s success. He has agreed to consider this proposal after discussing it with his supporters and party colleagues,” Sarma mentioned.
As the BJP refines its strategy in Jharkhand, the manner in which the party manages this internal discord could be a decisive factor in its election campaign.
