Honoring Unity: Celebrate National Harmony on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Inspiring Birth Anniversary
Today marks National Unity Day, observed annually on October 31st to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Known as the “Iron Man of India,” Patel played a crucial role in India’s independence movement and served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. His legacy of uniting diverse princely states into a cohesive nation is celebrated to inspire national solidarity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to pay homage at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat. This will be followed by the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, where he will lead the Ekta Diwas pledge. The event features an Ekta Diwas Parade with 16 marching contingents from nine states, one Union Territory Police, and four Central Armed Police Forces. Additional highlights include the Hell March by the NSG, daredevil performances by BSF and CRPF bikers, Indian martial arts demonstrations by BSF, a piped band show by school children, and the ‘Surya Kiran’ flypast by the Indian Air Force.
