PM Modi Triumphantly Unveils ₹1,127 Crore Cutting-Edge Medical Facilities at AIIMS Guwahati | Transformative Guwahati News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated several advanced healthcare facilities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati, as part of efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Northeast India. This event coincided with Ayurveda Day, during which PM Modi launched and laid the foundation for health sector projects valued at over Rs 12,850 crore nationwide, with significant contributions directed to Assam. AIIMS Guwahati saw the introduction of facilities valued at approximately Rs 1,127 crore.
Notable installations include drone services for rapid medical supply delivery, a state-of-the-art auditorium, and a radiotherapy block equipped with a high-energy linear accelerator, HDR brachytherapy unit, and a 4D-CT simulator. These advancements aim to foster research and training in health fields, particularly in cancer treatment.
The PM also unveiled advanced diagnostic and treatment amenities, including an MRI unit with a 3T scanner and a biplane digital subtraction angiography (DSA) cath lab designed for complex cardiac and neurovascular procedures. Additional facilities include a dexascan for bone health assessment and a comfortable night shelter for families of patients coming from afar.
The ceremony was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, MPs, MLAs, state government officials, and AIIMS Guwahati’s executive director, Professor Ashok Puranik, among others, underscoring the government’s commitment to upgrading healthcare services in the region.
These initiatives are expected to significantly improve medical services, enhance research capabilities, and contribute to better healthcare outcomes in Assam and beyond.
