Shocking Second Attack on BMTC Bus Crew in Bengaluru: Urgent Call for Action!
In a disturbing incident near the Canara Bank bus stop on Tannery Road in Bengaluru, two two-wheeler riders assaulted a BMTC bus driver and conductor on October 26, 2024. This marks the second attack on BMTC staff in a week. The assaulted crew, driver Gagan and conductor Shivakumar, who were operating a bus from Depot 30, were attacked without provocation. The assailants entered the bus, verbally abused, and physically attacked Mr. Gagan before turning their aggression on Mr. Shivakumar, dragging him out of the bus and attacking him on the street. Both victims were treated for their injuries at Bowring Hospital. A formal complaint has been lodged at the K.G. Halli Police Station.
In a separate incident on October 24, a conductor from Depot 19 was similarly attacked during a lunch break near the Tin Factory bus stop following an altercation with a passenger days earlier. BMTC officials condemn these attacks and have expressed concern over the safety of their employees.
