Meghalaya Assembly Speaker’s Inspiring Visit to BSF Border Outpost in South Garo Hills: A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Brave Security Forces
Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Thomas A. Sangma, paid a visit to the Baghmara Border Out Post in the South Garo Hills district on October 25. Accompanied by a team of civil officials, Sangma was briefed by Vinod Yadav, the Commandant of the 200 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), on the notable achievements of security forces in the region.
During the visit, Speaker Sangma engaged with BSF troops and commended their steadfast dedication to safeguarding the nation. He expressed appreciation for their vigilance and efforts in maintaining security along the border areas, highlighting the importance of their role in national security.
Earlier that day, BSF personnel had successfully intercepted a significant smuggling operation at the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya. The security forces discovered 12 cartons of Skin Shine ointment, with an estimated value of Rs 12 lakh, hidden in a dense jungle near the international boundary. These cosmetics were suspected to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
The operation, carried out by troops from the 4th Battalion of the BSF, was based on intelligence inputs. The seized products have since been handed over to customs authorities in Pynursla for further investigation, underscoring the ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling.
This visit and the interception highlight the critical role played by the BSF in ensuring border security and thwarting illegal activities. The vigilance and proactive measures taken by the security forces continue to be pivotal in maintaining peace and order in the region.
