India has announced its 15-man squad for the upcoming four-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on November 8 in Durban. Notably, the team includes all-rounder Ramandeep Singh and pace bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak. This marks Vyshak’s first call-up to the national squad, having impressed with 42 wickets across 30 T20 matches at an average of 20.88 and an economy rate of 8.29 during his time with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Ramandeep Singh, who boasts a domestic career with Punjab and was instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2024 victory, is known for his dynamic fielding and has contributed with both bat and ball, maintaining a striking rate of over 168 and taking 16 wickets. Currently, he’s gaining further exposure with the India A team in the Emerging T20 Asia Cup.
Three players from the previous Bangladesh T20 series—Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Reddy—will not be participating as they are slated to travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In contrast, Axar Patel, Yash Dayal, and Avesh Khan have been brought into the squad, adding depth in spin and pace departments.
The squad is led by Suryakumar Yadav, with other key members including Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Varma. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh will also provide crucial experience and skills.
Unavailable due to injuries are Mayank Yadav, who recently made his debut but is sidelined post-IPL recovery, and Shivam Dube, who is still recovering from a back injury. Riyan Parag is undergoing treatment for a chronic shoulder issue at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
This lineup reflects strategic choices aimed at balancing young talent and seasoned players, setting up a promising face-off against South Africa.
