BSF Heroically Thwarts Smuggling: Over Rs 6 Lakh Worth of Cattle and Garlic Seized
Meghalaya News: BSF Foils Smuggling Bid at India-Bangladesh Border
In a significant operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya, three Indian nationals have been arrested for attempting to smuggle cattle and garlic into Bangladesh. The operation took place near the international border in the East Khasi Hills district. Acting on precise intelligence, troops from the 193rd Battalion intercepted two vehicles involved in the smuggling attempt.
One of the vehicles, a Maruti Alto, was found loaded with four cattle. The total estimated value of the seized cattle and garlic exceeds Rs. 6 lakh, highlighting the scale of the illegal activity intended for cross-border trade.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by the BSF to curb illegal trade activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border, ensuring the security and integrity of the region. The seizure of these goods not only prevents economic loss but also addresses a significant issue impacting India’s border areas.
The BSF continues to maintain heightened vigilance along the Meghalaya border, working to foil similar smuggling operations while safeguarding national interests. Further investigations are underway to uncover any potential networks involved in this illegal trade.
