Revolutionary Changes in Manipur: Government Colleges Enforce New Attendance and Examination Regulations for Teachers and Students – A Bold Move Towards Excellence!
Manipur University Enforces Stricter Attendance Regulations for UG Programs
On November 16, 2022, Manipur University officially adopted the "Admission and Examination Regulations for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes in Science, Arts, Commerce, and other Streams, 2022." This new policy mandates that students must attend at least 75% of their classes to qualify for semester examinations, in addition to meeting other specified requirements.
A detailed committee meeting was held today, involving input from various college principals, to address the matter. The consensus highlighted the importance of maintaining regular attendance among both students and teachers in Government and Government Aided Colleges, aiming to foster a disciplined, responsible, and punctual student body.
Key actions decided for immediate implementation by college principals include:
-
Daily Assembly: A 15-20 minute daily assembly for staff and students will be held on all academic days. Each college will determine the optimal time for maximum student participation.
-
Motivational Use of Assembly: Principals are tasked with ensuring these assemblies are utilized to motivate both staff and students effectively.
-
Patriotic and Motivational Activities: Assemblies will feature activities such as the singing of the National Anthem, State Song, and sharing ‘Thoughts of the Day.’
-
Strict Enforcement of Attendance Rule: The minimum 75% attendance requirement will be rigorously enforced.
-
Examination Form Restrictions: Students failing to meet the attendance criteria will not be permitted to submit examination forms.
-
Scholarship Form Restrictions: Scholarship forms for students with below 75% attendance will not be approved by principals.
- Monitoring Teacher Attendance: Principals will monitor teacher attendance according to the Academic Calendar issued by Manipur University. Any breaches will be reported to the Director of University & Higher Education, Manipur.
To ensure compliance with these regulations, the Director of University & Higher Education, Manipur, will form a dedicated committee to oversee the adherence of all concerned parties.
