Triumphant Return: Satyendar Jain’s Empowered Fight Against Injustice Continues After Jail Release
Satyendar Jain, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi minister, was released from Tihar Jail on October 18 after being granted bail in a money laundering case by the Rouse Avenue Court. His release marked the conclusion of nearly two years in custody following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on May 30, 2022, on charges related to money laundering through four shell companies allegedly associated with him.
Upon his release, Jain was warmly received by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and enthusiastic party supporters who cheered for him. In a jesting address to his supporters, Jain remarked that the fight against injustice would continue, humorously suggesting that even CM Atishi might face imprisonment, eliciting laughter from those present.
The event was an emotional moment for Jain’s family, who described it as an “early Diwali” celebration. Jain’s wife, Poonam Jain, expressed relief and gratitude, emphasizing her husband’s dedication as a social worker and her belief in his innocence, thanking those who supported them throughout this ordeal.
The Delhi court granted bail to Jain on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with stipulations. Jain must avoid contact with witnesses or any individuals related to the case and refrain from influencing the trial. Furthermore, he is restricted from leaving the country without obtaining permission from the court.
Jain becomes the fourth AAP leader, following Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, to be granted bail in similar money laundering allegations. The court noted that the trial proceedings had not yet begun.
