Urgent Rescue: 100 Pregnant Women Safely Relocated to Hospitals in Prakasam District Amid Severe Rain Alerts
Prakasam District Collector A. Thameem Ansaria has emphasized the importance of safety during the upcoming heavy rains, focusing particularly on vulnerable groups such as pregnant and lactating women. On October 15, she advised residents to remain indoors for the next three days unless faced with an emergency and urged expectant mothers to be admitted to nearby hospitals for their safety. District Medical Officer of Health, D. Suresh Kumar, reported that 385 pregnant women have been identified, with 101 relocated to community health centers or hospitals for precautionary measures.
In response to the forecast and the inundation risk, the district administration has proactively established 13 relief centers at various locations, including schools and churches in Ongole. Inundated areas like Kesavaraju Kunta and Indira Colony are being given attention to clear stagnant water. Additionally, medical camps have been set up to assist those in need. The administration remains vigilant as they work to mitigate the impact of the heavy rains.
