Shocking Revelation: Education Commissioner Uncovers Deep Flaws in Arunachal Pradesh’s School System
Amjad Tak, Commissioner of Education and Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Bhawan Delhi, discussed key insights from a Chintan Shivir and Education Conclave in an exclusive interview with India Today NE, spotlighting major issues in Arunachal Pradesh’s education sector.
Tak announced the imminent regularisation of 500 Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teachers from the 2007 and 2008 batches, assuring that this would proceed on the basis of seniority and fairness. He urged teachers to refrain from lobbying for this process.
Addressing uniform distribution challenges, Tak highlighted that only about 20% of students receive funds through the PMFS due to inactive bank accounts. A focused initiative with district administrations is underway to tackle this issue.
He stressed the importance of accountability in the PM Poshan Yojana (previously the Mid-Day Meal scheme), promising action against non-compliant schools. Additionally, plans for an inventory management system are set to enhance the oversight of electronic gadgets and infrastructure in schools.
The Chintan Shivir shed light on critical deficiencies such as teacher shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training. In response, the education minister is conducting a statewide tour to evaluate the current state of elementary and school education.
In reaction to recent molestation incidents, Tak introduced Saturday classes for younger children to teach them about consent and boundaries through lessons on good and bad touch.
Enhancements at Arunachal Bhawan were also highlighted, including improved room allocations for patients and students. Plans for a new Arunachal Sadan and a dedicated facility near a multi-speciality hospital in Dhirpur, Delhi, were announced to better serve students and patients.
Concluding the discussion, Tak promised efforts to ensure water supply in new schools and is coordinating with the Public Health Engineering Department to secure regular water access in all government schools statewide.
