President Droupadi Murmu Embarks on Transformational Journey to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi Today!
President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a historic week-long tour of Africa, starting today, with visits to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi. This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian President to these three nations, underlining India’s commitment to strengthening ties with African countries a year after the African Union became a permanent member of the G20 during India’s presidency.
The president’s tour begins in Algeria, where she will engage in bilateral discussions with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and other prominent leaders. Her agenda includes addressing the India-Algeria Economic Forum and visiting the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University, fostering educational and economic ties between the two nations.
Following her stay in Algeria, President Murmu will travel to Mauritania on October 16. This visit is particularly significant as Mauritania currently presides over the African Union. Here, President Murmu will conduct high-level talks with Mauritanian leadership and connect with members of the Indian diaspora, reflecting India’s diplomatic outreach and community engagement in the region.
The final leg of her journey takes her to Malawi from October 17 to 19. In Malawi, President Murmu will meet with national leaders and engage with key figures in trade and industry, as well as the local Indian community, echoing the economic and social aspects of her African tour.
President Murmu’s three-nation visit is a testament to India’s deepening diplomatic relations with African countries and aims to reinforce existing friendly and cordial relations. Engaging both in high-level bilateral meetings and with the Indian diaspora, her visit is poised to strengthen multifaceted partnerships across these African nations, embodying India’s strategic and collaborative vision for global partnerships.
