Triumphant Victory: BJP’s Historic Third Term in Haryana – Last-Minute Gamble That Changed History! | Latest News India
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defied analyst predictions and overcame anti-incumbency to secure a historic third consecutive term in Haryana, securing 48 seats for a clear majority in the 90-member assembly. This victory comes despite the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) parting ways with the BJP earlier, prompting a leadership change from Manohar Lal Khattar to Nayab Singh Saini. Key factors in the BJP’s success included strategic management of caste dynamics and appealing to non-Jat voters by fielding a diverse array of candidates. The party’s campaign, shaped by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and powered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, focused on corruption under Congress rule, tapping into community fears of Jat dominance.
In contrast, the Congress, which secured 37 seats, faced unexpected setbacks in traditional Jat strongholds and internal dissent in 17 constituencies. Notably, Congress candidates struggled in districts like Sonepat, Jind, and Bhiwani. Meanwhile, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) managed to improve slightly by securing two seats but suffered a key loss with Abhay Singh Chautala’s defeat in Ellenabad. The JJP, a splinter group from the INLD, failed to win any seats, with its leader Dushyant Chautala finishing a dismal fifth in Uchana Kalan. The BJP’s strategy, including sub-classification within the Scheduled Castes, helped increase its representation, marking a significant political shift in Haryana.
