Exciting News: Revolutionary App-Based Cab Services Launching at Tripura’s MBB Airport!
In an exciting development for Agartala’s transit landscape, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the launch of app-based cab services to enhance travel to and from Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport. This initiative promises passengers more comfortable and affordable options akin to popular services like Ola and Uber. With existing prepaid taxis and autos falling short of expectations, the government aims to modernize transportation without sidelining local operators. Chowdhury emphasized safeguarding the interests of current transport providers, urging them to maintain services until the last flight arrives each day to uphold service standards.
Meanwhile, prospects for international travel from Agartala look promising, with flights to Chittagong, Bangladesh, planned for the future. The airport currently manages approximately 4,000 daily passengers.
Simultaneously, Tripura’s tourism sector prepares for a significant boost, following Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha’s announcement of a ₹692 crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on World Tourism Day 2024. This agreement between Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited and National Highways Logistics Management Limited will fund the construction of ropeways connecting Udaipur Railway Station to Matabari, Maharani to Chabimura, Surmachara, and Jampui Hills.
Such infrastructural developments are expected to capitalize on Tripura’s natural beauty, positioning tourism as a pivotal contributor to both state and national economic growth. The Chief Minister reiterated the strategic importance of tourism, leveraging the state’s unique landscapes to attract visitors. As Georgia hosts World Tourism Day this year, Tripura aims to align with global tourism efforts, focusing on its rich and untapped potential.
