Fiery Retort: Tripura BJP Chief Blasts Opposition for Misleading Public with Deceitful Allegations
Tripura BJP Denies Accusations of Hindering Panchayat Poll Nominations
In the face of serious accusations from opposition parties CPIM and Congress, Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya dismissed claims that the ruling party is obstructing candidates from filing nominations for the upcoming Panchayat elections. According to Bhattacharya, these allegations are baseless tactics employed by the opposition to mislead the public and to gain a foothold in the electoral contest scheduled for August 8.
Both CPIM and Congress contend that BJP supporters have actively prevented their candidates from submitting nomination papers, with CPIM highlighting specific disruptions in 23 locations marked by alleged attacks. Despite these claims, Bhattacharya emphasized that the state has seen significant improvements in law and order since the BJP took office, contrasting it with the governance period under the Left Front government.
"The law and order situation has substantially improved since the BJP assumed power. The opposition lacks a genuine agenda and is resorting to fabrications to create confusion," Bhattacharya told India Today NE. He elaborated that the BJP’s recent victory in the Lok Sabha elections, where the party secured both seats in Tripura, is a testament to their strong public support and effective governance.
Further criticizing the opposition, Bhattacharya remarked, "They failed to even field candidates in these elections. Their baseless allegations are a desperate measure due to their lack of preparation and dwindling connectivity with the masses."
Bhattacharya affirmed the BJP’s commitment to a democratic electoral process, expressing confidence in winning the Panchayat elections just as they did in the Lok Sabha elections, where they achieved a historic victory.
In response to these developments, CPIM has requested police escorts for their candidates to ensure safety during the nomination process, underscoring the ongoing tensions leading up to the Panchayat polls.
This unfolding political drama highlights the charged atmosphere as Tripura prepares for another critical electoral exercise.
