WhatsApp Rolls Out New Filters and Backgrounds for Video Calls

Meta-owned WhatsApp has unveiled a suite of new camera filters and backgrounds for video calls, providing users with creative ways to personalize their experience. These new features aim to enhance the visual appeal and privacy during video interactions.
The array of filters includes Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light Leak, Dreamy, Prism Light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted Glass, and Duotone. For backgrounds, users can choose from options such as Blur, Living Room, Office, Café, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration, and Forest. These backgrounds allow users to mask their real environment with more aesthetically pleasing or professional settings.
WhatsApp has also introduced Touch Up and Low Light options to adjust facial appearance and improve lighting conditions. These enhancements can be accessed during one-on-one or group video calls by selecting the effects icon at the top right corner of the screen, allowing users to browse and apply their preferred filters and backgrounds seamlessly.
In addition, WhatsApp is exploring extending these filters and augmented reality (AR) effects to its built-in camera, potentially allowing users to apply these stylish filters to photos and videos captured directly within the app.
This rollout will be widely available to users in the coming weeks, aiming to boost engagement and user experience on the platform.
