Shocking Court Appearance: Minister Senthilbalaji Faces Justice in Explosive Cash-for-Jobs Scam Case
Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise, V. Senthilbalaji, appeared before the Special Court dedicated to MLA and MP cases on Tuesday regarding the cash-for-jobs scam. The judge indicated that with 2,202 accused individuals, the charge-sheet copies will be distributed to 100 persons at a time. Charges will be framed only after this distribution process is complete. The case is adjourned to October 24 for the next hearing.
This case dates back to Senthilbalaji’s tenure as Transport Minister in the AIADMK government from 2011 to 2016. He and his associates allegedly collected money from job seekers in return for positions in transport corporations. Several job aspirants filed complaints, claiming they were never employed. Senthilbalaji faces charges under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Additionally, the Directorate of Enforcement has lodged a money laundering case, leading to his arrest in June 2023.
